If you are thinking of Agra Lucknow Expressway and wondering if it is really open for traffic, then this is my experience from Araul (where road frkm Kanour joins the Expressway) to Agra while going from Kanpur to Delhi on 20.1.17.
I decided to explore the expressway as there was very little information on internet except that it is not yet fully ready.
I took the GT road from Kanpur, which is a 2 lane road passing through congested small towns like chaubeypur, bilhaur etc., till we reached a diversion at Araul.
This was first indication that works are pending. There is no signage but the clover to get onto expressway is ready and after accidently getting onto wrong side og clover (no signage), I got onto the expressway.
The road surface is good and traffic is sparse. 100 kmph is the limit and you are tempteqd to go faster. However:
1. Be careful as works are still going on and trucks, construction machinery would appear working or coming on wrong side we, even in fast lane.
2. I met several cyclists and cars also on wrong side as there is no control as such.
.
3. Long stretches are not ready and traffic gets diverfed on to one side only, getting 1.5 lanes either side, divided by plastic bollards only in 10% diverted length. Add confusion of construction vehicles and speeding oncoming cars and it can become a lethal mix if you are not careful. However traffic is very low at the moment.
4. You are dumped back onto NH about 100 km short of Agra, before Shikohabad. Before this point, one side is out of commission right from Etawah. Another stretch is at Kannauj take off.
So all in all, NH which is 5 lane upto Etawah from Kanour, is still a better bet.
